Ezekiel: God who travels Chapter 24

A Musician and a Worship Leader All in One

If there is one thing that heaven and earth share in common, it is music.

On earth, only humans play instruments and sing songs. The world is filled with music—from simple melodies to grand symphonies. Yet, heaven is not far different. The angels themselves perform music, but theirs is always before the glorious presence of the Most High God.

Ezekiel 28 hints at a special being favored by God, though never named explicitly. This being’s purpose was clear from the beginning—the very workmanship of his timbrels and pipes was prepared on the day he was created.

Music was woven into his very being as God’s glory moved through him. At heaven’s worship stage, all heavenly beings pause and give attention as he performs. There is no greater joy than this sacred calling. Yet, despite this divine gift, pride grew—and that is where his downfall begins.

For musicians and worship leaders here on earth, this resonates deeply. When God moves through a human, clothing Himself in our fragile flesh to bring His glory, there is a sacred moment. The Holy Spirit hovers near, hearts once hardened turn tender, and bodies lift in cries to the Living God for comfort and rest.

When we seek biblical truths about music and worship, there is a surprising new favorite—a man in human form from the earth.

That man is King David.

David was far from perfect. A young shepherd boy, skilled with the harp, caretaker of animals, and a sinner who made grave mistakes in battle and in life. Yet, he was a man after God’s own heart.

Why? Because of the genuine love, repentance, and worship he offered to God.

Turn to the Book of Psalms and you’ll find the heart of David expressed in song after song, praise after praise. His worship pleased God more than even the angelic choirs.

No matter how brilliantly Satan may perform with his angelic music gifts, the Most High God turns His ear and rests His heart on King David’s human worship.
