Ezekiel: God who travels Chapter 22

You Were in Eden

As we dive deeper into Ezekiel 28, we encounter a place famous on earth but truly exclusive to the Most High God—Eden, the garden of God.

Interestingly, man was never originally created in Eden. Adam was formed by God’s hand from the dust of the earth—earthly material. From Adam’s side, God fashioned Eve, but there is a key difference in their creation story that we should note.

Eden is no ordinary place. It must be a special realm where God planted and nurtured extraordinary trees. I believe Eden was separated from the earth, or perhaps a place in heaven itself, divided by four rivers. At its center stood the Tree of Life and nearby, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

God did not complicate Adam’s life in Eden. There was only one command: Do not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God gave this command directly to Adam—but take note, He did not give this instruction to Eve yet, because she had not yet been created.

For a time, Adam lived alone in God’s paradise. He named all the animals and gathered them according to their kinds. Though fulfilled in part, he was incomplete. So God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” None of the animals proved to be a suitable companion.

Then came the woman.

God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs, filled it with flesh, and closed the wound. It almost sounds like magic! 😊 This is how Eve was created—in Eden itself. I believe God repeated the same commandment to Eve, which she affirmed in Genesis 3:3.

All was well.

Until one day, in the form of a serpent, a cunning deceiver came into paradise and twisted this perfect reality. The serpent tempted Eve, knowing she would fail. Adam was absent at that moment, unable to rescue her. And perhaps, dazzled by Eve’s God-given beauty and the fruit’s allure, Adam did not resist—he took a bite.

They ate.

Satan knew his plan had succeeded. Just another day in paradise, forever changed. 😑👀
