Ezekiel: God who travels Chapter 12

Keeping the Sabbath Day: The Truest Sign

Without quoting scripture directly but by listening closely to the Holy Spirit’s call to write now, it becomes clear that the Sabbath day reveals the very essence of God. After God called the heavens and earth into order, created plants and animals, then came man—the ultimate expression of God’s affection. Man, created in God’s image, was given the responsibility to care for creation and to be called God’s children.

Keeping the Sabbath day of the Lord helps man remember how it all began, how good God is, how His love endures forever, and how He formed man in His own image and likeness.

The Sabbath also guards man from spiritual amnesia. Through fellowship with God, man dedicates a day to pause, wonder, and find peace in God’s presence. When the Sabbath is neglected, idolatry and rebellion can take root in the human heart—because God knows that the human heart must rest in His Name. We must marvel at His creation and never forget that God rested too after all was made.

Peace comes when we truly realize that God rested—and therefore, man must give God His Sabbath as well.

The focus is on God alone—not ourselves.

How do we give God the proper Sabbath?

Just as God rested after His work was complete, man must offer God a heart full of praise, awe, and wonder—a heart at peace with no further demands, because everything has already been provided.

To honor the Sabbath truly is to recognize God as the ultimate source—needing nothing more—and to rest fully in His provision.

This is the Sabbath worth offering to God.

We live in a new covenant: Jesus Christ has done it all. We don’t need to add works or sacrifices to please God. Salvation comes by God’s grace, revealed through faith and following His Son.

If man understands this more deeply than the food they eat, their worries, or worldly pleasures and possessions, God is truly rested, praised, glorified, and worshipped.

It is very simple, yet man often seeks complicated ways—ways God never asked for. 🙏
